Advice from an IT guru
Matt Cutts joined Google as a Software Engineer in January 2000. Since then he has been known for his outspoken blog, his attempts to tackle unhealthy link spam. He has a lot of article on his blog related to IT and software engineering. And some good tips he can offer on keeping a tidy inbox for those who like him receive hundreds of emails every day.
First of all he advises to have some email managing tools at hand. Other things are in control of anyone with a little time and patience. You have to proclaim and filter ruthlessly e-mails that appear as spam and always report them. Also go through your contact lists and see if some of the contacts should also go to the trash folder. Delete emails you don’t need to reply to. Try not to check you e-mail too often. Chances are the more mail you get the more ruthless and organized you will be in deciding what’s in and what’s out. Check your e-mail once a day unless you are waiting for an important one. Try and make sure your mail client always shows you threads on the same topic. You can mark them by color-coding or other ways available. Matt Cutts knows what he’s talking about.
